# Tahoe Compost

> Tahoe Compost is a nonprofit curbside food scrap pickup service in South Lake Tahoe, California. We collect residential food waste on Wednesdays and compost it locally, keeping organic material out of the landfill and returning soil to the Tahoe basin.

## What we do

Residential curbside food scrap collection. Members put a bin out before 8am on Wednesday and we pick it up. We provide a countertop bin and a 5-gallon curbside bin at signup.

Founded as a pilot in 2022. Since then our members have diverted more than 15,000 pounds of food scraps from the landfill.

## Pricing

- On-demand pickup: $15 per pickup, no membership required
- 6-month membership, 1 pickup per month: $84
- 6-month membership, 2 pickups per month: $144
- 6-month membership, 4 pickups per month: $240
- Composting starter kit: $35 one time, includes a countertop bin and a 5-gallon curbside bin
